introduction:

as you can see, an interesting post card arrived with two sides. these post cards are pictures, text, clues, and artifacts from my current travels. rather than me simply telling you what I'm doing in a foreign country, you have to figure it out for yourself. if you do, you could win an actual prize from me personally. prizes include: custom wallpapers, hand written post cards, soveniers from the trip, or even a real holga camera. interested? please read the rules below and good luck!

how to play:

the orient scavenger hunt is essentially a scavenger hunt, only backwards. this means that I have found several items and composed these items into a post card. based on what the post card looks like, you must figure out as much of the following as possible:

{1} what(who, what idea, etc.) is shown? - the picture shows something of course, but it may not be as obvious as simply looking at the pretty colors to decide what it is. it could be something entirely different.
{2} where is alex? - try to be specific, the more exact about location you are the more likely you will win a better prize.
{3} what is alex doing? - there is a reason alex took a picture of what is on the post card, imaginative guesses are welcome!

for example, the introduction post card could be answered as the following:

{1} an owl is shown, listening to music. this could represent alex listening to music.
{2} the owl is in the sky, which could represent alex flying.
{3} alex is currently bored out of his mind on a very long flight to china.

some post cards may be different & have additional questions
depending on the subject matter a post card may actually be a video rather than an image. please watch the blog for more information

once you have these answers you can either email them using the contact form, respond on tumblr by reblogging the post with your answers, or using twitter to @buyalex your answers. if you are emailing or using twitter, make sure to tell me which post card you are responding to, post card names are located above each image on this page.

hints:

please remember that this contest is based off of creativity and awesome answers, not nessacerily detail and poetic meanings. even if you have no idea what's pictured, guess. If you care to answer correctly rather than creatively, check out my facebook, twitter, & flickr for additional hints you might not find on the blog.

prizes:

prizes will include, but at not limited to:

wallpaper for your desktop - custom made for you.
love letters or hand written post cards - everyone loves receiving real mail.
souvenirs - awesome artifacts I discover while traveling could be given to you. flasks, toys, fashion, and many more things have been discovered.
a holga camera - the grand prize. one holga camera will be given to the overall most awesome answer of one of the post cards. use the holga camera to document your own journey or travels while looking sexy doing so.

post card times and deadlines:

post cards will be released randomly throughout the course of June 15th-July 8th, 2009. there is no set amount of post cards that will appear, nor are there specific dates. the post cards will not expire and can be entered until July 9th, 2009.
